Movement of Breath and Spine in Āsana:
Nourishing Prāṇā through Twists
Experience twists that are so integrated and vital that they literally change your whole life!
Emotions and experiences get stuck in the body and create blocks that influence our quality of life both physically and energetically. In our Yoga practice, twists help cleanse the body of impurities and allow prāṇa to flow.
But first we need to understand how to move into a twist efficiently and effectively in order to invite the whole spine into the process. Once the spine is integrated, free of tension and mobile areas are stabilized, we can fully participate in our experience.
Our practice becomes a doorway into a web of subtleties that exist within our body, mind, breath, emotions and spirit. And as we begin to lean into this introspective journey, we often find ourselves left in awe only to discover the vast possibilities encompassed within our practice.
‘Twists can help us transform. We take what is nourishing and let go of what is not. This is a natural-unfolding process.’ -Amanda Green
The Movement of Breath and Spine in Āsana: Nourishing Prānā through Twists will discuss the relationship between the spine and the breath, and its influence in the movement of prāṇa. Students will learn how to integrate the entire spine to build a foundation for practice that creates a clear connection to the positive flow of prāṇa.
The workshop is a combination of learning through practice and discussion. To begin, Amanda will guide you through a Yoga practice which explores breath, breathing technique and the foundations of how to move into a twist safely and efficiently. The discussion following it will provide time to reflect on the experience, ask questions and then learn how to apply these principles to the practices you do or you teach.
If you are looking to explore, experience and understand the physical and energetic influence of āsana in your Yoga practice, and in your life, this workshop is for you!
